Hyperopia is a vision disorder where nearby objects appear blurred while distant objects are seen more clearly. This happens when the eyeball is too short or the cornea is insufficiently curved, causing light rays to focus behind the retina rather than directly on it.
HOW TO KNOW IF YOU ARE SICK: THE SYMPTOMS
Symptoms of hyperopia include:

Blurred near vision: difficulty seeing close objects clearly, such as when reading or using a phone.

Eye fatigue: increased effort to see up close, resulting in eye fatigue or pain.

Headache: Head pain caused by tension of the eye muscles when trying to focus on nearby objects.

Clear distance vision: Distant objects are generally seen more clearly, although this may vary with the degree of farsightedness.

Frequent blinking: tendency to blink or squint to improve near vision.
These symptoms may become more apparent during tasks requiring prolonged close vision.
HOW IT IS CURED: TREATMENT OF HYPERMETROPIA
Hyperopia is generally treated with glasses or convex contact lenses that correct the focusing of light on the retina. For a more permanent solution, surgical procedures like LASIK or PRK may be considered, reshaping the cornea to improve near vision.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?
During surgery for hyperopia, such as LASIK, the patient receives local anesthesia in the form of drops. The surgeon uses a laser to reshape the cornea and correct the focus of light on the retina. The procedure is quick, usually in less than 30 minutes.
After a procedure for farsightedness, such as LASIK, the patient may experience temporary blurred vision, feelings of dryness or irritation. It is crucial to follow post-operative instructions, including the use of eye drops to prevent infections and reduce inflammation. Vision may fluctuate during the recovery period, which can last several days to weeks. Regular follow-up visits are necessary to assess healing and the effectiveness of treatment. Most patients see significant improvement in their vision within this time frame.
